A Solid Piece of Entertainment Equipment
This is a very good and inexpensive projector. I used it for a party to play video games and it performed wonderfully. The image is sharp, the projector is compact and quiet, and it doesn't generate a lot of heat. The light is a tad weak, so you have to use it in very low lighting. The built in speaker is incredibly underwhelming, but easily rectified by an audio auxiliary cord and an external speaker. You also need to make sure you keep the remote control in a visible and easy to find spot. Because if you lose the remote, you can't use ANY of the projector functions - and I do mean any of them. A helpful tidbit to remember if you plan on using this product for any of your parties.
I cannot get any sound to come out of the ...
I cannot get any sound to come out of the machine if I use a HDMI or S-video cord from my DVD player. Can only help me with this??
Nice Picture , Sound Low
We used this as a High School Anime Club projector. It is easy to set up and projects a very clear picture. The speaker in it is not very loud though so it would be a good idea to find something louder to hook it up to, but it is wonderful all the same. I would definitely recommend.
Real junk. I've had this for two years now and every time I try to use it is an adventure. From the beginning, the remote didn't work properyl. Then the cable ports went out. Do not buy this.
VERY happy with this product
VERY happy with this product. Easy to set up with my DVD player and has good picture quality. Small edges of the picture was cut off, which was the only negative. There may be a way to fix this, but I have not found a way to do it yet.
This is a great budget projector
This is a great budget projector. It's bright enough to be watchable in dim lighting, and is really bright in a completely darkened room. Don't expect full HD, but also don't expect that if you make a huge screen anyone is going to notice or care. Seriously, for a hundred and fitty bucks, this thing is awesome. Note that the reviews on this page are for both the led3 and the led2. The led3 is vastly superior, and right now, cheaper.
Perfect for the price
Perfect projector for the price. I am using this with my chromecast and its flawless during night time. As pointed out by other reviewers, this is less than useful during daytime unless you find a way to darken the room completely. In-built speakers are useless but that is the case with any projector.
Perfect for family movie night!
LOVE it! We bought this for our kids to watch movies in the garage just for fun. It says the max projection is 120 in, but they watched Frozen on it last night and we had the screen the size of a 2 car garage door and it was awesome!! My husband and I even ended up having a little date night out there after the littles went to bed. We built a screen with old white sheets.
I am disappointed with this item
I am disappointed with this item. I didn't realize the luminous intensity was so small. This was my first projector and I didn't pay much attention to the amount of lumens.
Pass - I got what I paid for
Nice and compact, but light is not bright enough and there is nothing that can be done about it.
A little disapointed
Purchased in Jan 2014 and what a great little projector. For the price, you just can't beat it. The room does not have to be in total darkness for a clear picture and that's with the projector 12 feet away, projecting a 120 inch diagnal picture. No issues. When and IF, again IF any problems should arrise, I'll definately buy another. 5 stars Update as of 25 Nov 2014: Just a few days ago, a circle has appeared. Looks like a burned in image that no matter what will not go away but gets worse as it is used. It says 20,000 hours of bulb life and I know I am no where near that. It is a very noticeable and annoying circle about 2 ft in diameter with a dark shade to the inside of the circle as well. 3 stars now only because for the price and how it was when there were no issues was awesome. not so much now.
Not worth your money!
This is an okay projector, not at all great in terms of resolution. The image appeared blurred, and you could either focus the central or the top/bottom part of the projection, but never the entire picture. Text and subtitles are not easy to read, and image colors are unnatural. The remote has poor reception, you have to point it at the back to work. Even the build quality feels cheap. Overall, a disappointment for 220 bucks. I have returned this, and ordered a viewsonic - hope to get a better quality picture on it.
poor resolution and deformed projection
poor resolution and deformed projection. i know it was only 200 but it is overpriced for the level of quality we received.
Good lightening in a not too dark room
It worked well for the occasion I got it for. Good lightening in a not too dark room. Maybe it is me and not the device but I do not particularly like using it directly from the USB drive since I find the keys on the remote somewhat resistive and it could be a bit frustrating to use at times. When I used the device with the laptop where there is more functionality it performed miuch better.
I like the projector
I like the projector, however I'm trying to use it in a LARGE room and it doesn't have enough sound. I am currently trying to find some complimentary speakers that will finish the job. Movie night for lottsa kids doesn't work when only the first 5 can hear.
Love this thing
I had been in the market for a low cost but effective projector for quite awhile. My main purpose was to watch movies outside on nice summer nights. This definitely gets the job done. The picture quality is not the best, obviously, but it is still decent enough to enjoy. Also it isn't the brightest, but I was able to watch it indoors with the shades closed and it looked ok. This thing is not going to be the best projector in the world, but for the money it is definitely worth it. This is not a replacement for your TV, but if you just want movies on occasion like I do without spending a ton of money, this is the way to go.
Solid First Projector
This is my first projector. Obviously. It's cheap. And it has been awesome. Not totally awesome, but great for what it is. A low resolution projector. Ok, so the cons: fan nose, vignetting, soft corners, bright center, low resolution. Accept it. You will not get lucky and receive a model that does not have these annoyances. Pros: I've had this for a year now and it's still going strong. You can adjust the picturue settings: sharpness, contrast, brightness, saturation, etc. The look overall is suggestively cinematic. It's fun to project a movie onto your walls. The low resolution isn't so bad. It's optimum performance is definitely in complete darkness. Speakers. This feature cracks me up. Honestly, why? We know they're crap. So why bother?
Black dot in middle of lens
I bought this thing as an Amazon warehouse deal. I hooked it up for the first time and a black circle appeared within minutes of turning it on. After looking online, other users said it means the unit is overheating. Turn it off and wait for it to cool. Well that doesn't help me for my 1 hour presentation. I tried everything recommended to air flow around the unit but the circle kept getting bigger and nothing could be seen on the screen as it grew and took up more space. Unfortunately, I didn't open up my box until well after the 30 day return window.
GREAT LED PROJECTOR FOR THE PRICE
You get what you pay for in the world of projectors, but this was a bit better than expected. The picture can be spot on with the right set up, but sometimes needs fine readjustment. I have at least 100+ hours on mine already and have yet to find a glitch. The fan can seem noisy, who cares turn the movie UP!
Haven't officially used it yet, but I love the fact that it is so compact and light. This was purchased to be used at my sorority chapter meetings
Works Well For Holiday Windows
I use this to display video on a window in my house at Halloween and Christmas. I project from the inside of the house onto a plastic drop cloth located on the inside of the window. The audio output is sent to a Acoustic Research AWS63S Portable Wireless Outdoor Speaker transmitter. Purchased the outdoor speaker on Amazon as well. The projector has a USB port on it that can be used to playback videos stored on a flash drive attached to the projector. You have to select the flash drive and the file(s) to play from a menu each time you start up the projector. It will loop the playback of files selected which is good for holiday presentations. I wish it had a means of playing back a file stored on the USB drive automatically when powered on because that would eliminate user interaction and I could have it turn on and off at a given time with an AC timer control. Anyway, for the price it is bright and works well for my needs.
not worth buying
horrible quality and doesn't really work couldnt get it to connect to the comnputer or project even a square imagine
Public Service Announcement: THERE IS A REPLACEMENT REMOTE AVAILABLE!
I was concerned about the fact that this can only be controlled via the remote which could easily be lost. I sent an email to email@example.com and got a response within 5 minutes! Replacement remotes ARE available via their Ebay store for $29.95 including shipping, so I think I will order one to have as insurance. I will post a followup opinion on the projector features when I have used it more.
Good for a night movie but not for a day or bussiness presentation
The price is good but this projector is not bright enough to do a business presentation on a conference room or church. It works only in a dark room.
GOOD PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY
IT DOES JUST WHAT WE WANTED IT FOR. WE USE IT FOR SIDE SHOWS OFF OUR LAPTOP AT THE MASONIC LODGE.
Fan noise is unbearable!
I bought this product knowing that it is a lower end device (i.e. lower resolution, lower constrast, lower brightness, etc)... all of which I'm fine with. To me, the picture is fine for a big screen movie night. But the fan noise is just incessant! I can't handle it. I returned the projector because I can't stand the noise. It's impossible to concentrate on the movie.
Would not communicate with laptop and while trying it shut down for good after 15 minutes. Thank goodness Amazon accepted my return and refunded my money.
It was a great price so I bought it. Lots of trouble with resolution and after messing with it for hours gave up. Great shipping time and return experience though, so I did try again with a better model and extremely happy with the Epson VS230
Nothing but trouble.
Hard to set up, picture is NOT clear. Brightness less than expected. Focus is so darn touchy we have trouble every time with it. Am NOT happy with this product. I'm having an independent check it for performance before I return this POS!
Worst projector ever
First off I am comparing this to a 10 year old Optoma EP721, which its highest quality is DVI-I or DVD quality, that needs a new DMD Chip and I decided I would try a cheaper projector but with HD quality. It says it is HDMI quality on the tin but there is no way it is. You can literally see the pixels graphed out on the screen if you look hard enough. And the upper, lower and left and right sides get blurry the further the picture goes out. Yes the middle is clear but if you have text on the top, bottom or left and right you cant read anything and I put this projector on a nice projector screen. Horrible horrible. I spent some time working the limited settings in the menu, turned the dial on the projector lens to focus and spun the wheel underneath it for keystone and no matter what all the videos I through at it looked terrible, absolutely terrible when comparing it to my 10 year old projector! Wow! Has technology really gone out the window or is this product just too cheap for decent quality? So the quality of this projector is awful and there is no way it is displaying actual HD quality. Even though it displays 16:9 ratio the quality is by far HD and probably not even DVD quality. Lets talk about the fan noise. The fan is loud! Loud loud loud! 10 x times louder than my Optoma. I am a computer technician and I can spot a cheap fan. The fan is visibly clear as day in the front grill of the projector and you can tell it was a 25 cent fan made in China. It may last a year before it starts squealing even worse then it does now. The Form Factor. Its a box! A very ugly shell that is very light weight, probably a 1/4 of the weight of my Optoma. The lighter it is the cheaper it is. Oh, and the worse part of all is that there is no middle mounting screw for a tripod. This thing is supposed to be portable yet there is no screw hole for a tripod? My 10 year old Optoma has one and it wasn't meant to be portable. Sheesh. Talk about lack of features. PROS: 1. Small. 2. Portable. 3. LED instead of bulb. CONS: 1. Not HD quality, maybe not even DVD quality. Looks more like VHS quality. 2. Every direction away from the center of the picture everything gets blurry and there is no setting to fix this. 3. Cheap! Here's a cheap, there's a cheap, every where's a cheap cheap. I knew I was buying something cheap but man...whats 10x worse then cheap? 4. Fan noise is awful. I can tell it is a very cheap cooling fan and if your lucky it will last you a year before it squeals. 5. Menu is very limited. Not a whole lot of options. Nothing to fix poor quality that's for sure. 6. So blurry you cannot read subtitles anywhere on the screen except in the middle and subtitles never appear in the middle. I am extremely disappointed in this projector. I would think even a brand new HD LED projector that is cheap would out perform a 10 year old projector but no. I am returning this paper weight and getting a DMD Chip for my Optoma and the DMD chip is $25 less then this projector. You have been warned. If you buy this projector lower your expectations to when you watched I Love Lucy on a color tubed T.V.'s because that is the quality your getting out of this. Oh, and here are the specs directly off the favientertainment.com website. It doesn't state it on Amazon but some of the horrible quality comes from the 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Model: RioHD-LED-3 Lamp Technology: LED Display Technology: LCD Lamp Life: 20,000 hours Max Image Size: 150 inches Resolution SVGA (800 x 600) Max Resolution: 720p / 1080i / 1080p Contrast: 1,000:1 Weight: 2.75 lbs Keystone: 15 +- degrees Inputs: 1 x HDMI, 1 x VGA, 1 x USB (Video / Photo Playback), 1 x S-Video, 1 x Component Video, 1 x AV, 1 x Power Adapter (AC 100-240V) Front Projection: Yes Rear Projection: Yes Portable: Yes Warranty: 1 Year
No horror story .. yet! :)
Writing this using the Favi as main screen. I dont even have a projector screen yet, its on some green wall , painted concrete, and still is usable and then some. The unit sets up easy, you need to explore the settings using the remote. There was something rattling around inside the casing but I couldnt get whatever is loose into view and i didnt want to open the unit. I turned it on anyway and it works fine so far. Not sure what the loose part is inside but it works so not going to return it unless it breaks. 2014 and a good start... projector technology is finally affordable, HD, portable and on better value than a TV. Can't wait for 2020.NO serial number on this product, keep your warranty card as it must be included in a repair/return. ---- EDIT FEB 9th 2014: Been two weeks, still loving projector. Playing games, watching movies. Color is great, manual focus requires attention and patience. VIDEO REVIEW HERE: http://youtu.be/9P0jB4iueso?t=16s
Screen resolution is not the best quality. By dimming or having minimal light in the room it works. It used by an art teacher in the class room and lights need to be shut off for best quality.
The first one I got was supposed to be new, but it the power button didn't work at all and the remote didn't work at all. I returned it for another and everything is absolutely wonderful! The picture is still great, and all of the complaints I had with the first one are gone. The fan is louder than the first one I got, but it is worth it! It's definitely a good piece of equipment.
